Shingle roof installation in progress

Roofing built for snow load and nor’easters

Replacement and new installs on homes, condominiums and commercial buildings, detailed for the ice, snow and coastal wind New England actually delivers.

About our roofing work

A roof is the one part of a building that cannot have an off day. We replace and install roofing across Massachusetts, from Cape Cod to the North Shore, and we spend as much attention on what goes under the shingles as on the shingles themselves: sound decking, correct underlayment, ice and water shield where the code and the climate demand it, and flashing that is formed rather than caulked.

Coastal towns are harder on a roof than most people expect. Wind uplift at the eaves, salt air on the fasteners, and ice damming on the north face all shorten the life of a roof that was installed to the minimum. We install to the manufacturer spec that keeps the warranty intact, and we tell you honestly when a repair will hold and when it will not.

We have used Veskon on two multifamily projects, siding and roofing on both. They show up, they communicate, and their work holds up. As a GC, I need a sub I can trust to manage their own scope.

Common questions

How do I know if I need a new roof or just a repair?

Age, granule loss, curling shingles, and where the leak actually shows up. A roof in its last few years is usually cheaper to replace than to keep patching. We look at it and tell you straight, including when the honest answer is that you have several years left.

Do you replace the decking too?

Only where it needs it. We inspect the deck once the old roof is off, show you anything soft or rotted, and replace those sheets. Decking is priced as a per sheet line in the estimate so you know the exposure before we start.

How long does a roof replacement take?

Most single family homes are done in one to three days depending on size, pitch and how much decking needs work. You get a written schedule before we start and we hold to it.

What about ice dams?

Ice dams are a ventilation and insulation problem as much as a roofing one. We install ice and water shield at the eaves and valleys and make sure the ridge and soffit ventilation actually works, because a roof that cannot breathe will keep building dams no matter what is on top of it.

Will the job site be a mess?

A tear off makes debris, there is no way around it. We tarp the ground and the landscaping, keep a dumpster on site, run a magnet over the yard and driveway for nails, and clean up at the end of every day rather than at the end of the job.
